Dirty Laundry

Prompt: Write a poem about passing through your own storm. Forbidden words: ocean, sea, dark.

Failure to learn
from my mistakes
(over and over).
Rinse and repeat.

Contagious blame
that lingers,
a cloud of smudge
cloaking the natural glow
of optimism.

Just when the stain is
scrubbed away
(clean),
a lapse,
and I start all over.
